Arduino is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple i/o board and a development environment that implements the Processing/Wiring language. Arduino can be used to develop stand-alone interactive objects or can be connected to software on your computer.
You make use it to make interactive objects that can sense inputs from switches, sensors, computers, and then control motors, lights, and other outputs.The microcontroller Arduino platform can be programmed and equipped to perform a nearly endless list of functions.
An microcontroller Arduino board consists of an Atmel AVR microcontroller (ATmega328, ATmega168, ATmega8 and others) and complementary components to facilitate programming and incorporation into other circuits. All boards include a 5-volt linear regulator and a 16MHz(8MHz) crystal oscillator (or ceramic resonator). The microcontroller is pre-programmed with a bootloader.
The boards can be built by hand or purchased preassembled; the software can be downloaded for free. The hardware reference designs (CAD files) are available under an open-source license, you are free to adapt them to your needs. microcontroller arduino
