C. D. Williams was born in Sacramento, California. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard at the age of seventeen and retired as a Chief Warrant officer in 1984. During his twenty-seven year career Williams visited numerous exotic ports of call while serving on Coast Guard ships. He served in Vietnam in 1967 and from 1969 to 1971 he was the independent duty medical corpsman assigned to a small, isolated, Coast Guard station on the southwest coast of Palawan Island. Williams has made his home in Las Vegas since relocating from Juneau, Alaska in 1994.
