Cooperative Leadership for Software Asset Management Standardization

Ottsville, PA (PRWEB) October 15, 2007 -- Spreading the word on Software Asset Management and ISO 19770 standards is forging industry cooperation spanning continents and roles. Both IiS and IAITAM focus on increasing the effectiveness and professionalism of Software Asset Management.

Since inception, IiS (ww.investorsinsoftware.com) has been closely aligned with ITIL, the IT Infrastructure Library. A recently published self-assessment tool for ISO/IEC 19770-1 is helping organizations develop the practical steps necessary to comply with the standard. "The standards development projects to date have had extensive involvement from many different providers of services and solutions, as well as practitioners of Software Asset Management," stated David Bicket of IiS. "This project has been a great opportunity to work with leaders in this industry and to make a difference regarding how organizations manage their software."

IAITAM (www.iaitam.org) has focused on developing and delivering certification training and best practice guidance for Software Asset Management, Hardware Asset Management and the management of these activities, termed IT Asset Management by the organization.
