Accounting is called the language of business. A more technical definition of Accounting is ?Accounting is the art of recording, summarizing, reporting, and analyzing financial transactions.? Each business has it way of organizing their spreadsheets. At the end of the day everyone needs a mode to keep a track of their money.

In other words, Accounting is referred to the practice of keeping a track of all the incomes and expenses in business and evaluating the status in finances with those figures.

Centuries ago, keeping accounts was just in books, which involved a lot of paperwork. Keeping a track of the balance sheets, statements and other transactions and recording the same. After maintaining these records, the required taxes are paid.

Business however was way beyond numbers. There were other services like audits, planning tax, business consultations, valuation and planning. The balance sheet accounts involved Assets, Liabilities and Equity. The profit and loss accounts involve Revenue and Expenses.

An Accounting software in simple terms means, software meant for accounts. It is said that typically accounting software has modules, and sections which deal with different accounting systems.

Accounting software records and processes the transactions within modules like payable and receivable accounts, payroll, and trial balance. Its purpose is to be a utility in an accounting and information system. It is easy to develop, and the same can be done at home by a small sized company or even if an organization uses it, it can be purchased from another vendor. The application that is bought can be a combination of two-three other softwares with some minor changes. It may vary in terms of cost and complexity.

Accounting software has moved one level up, from books to computers. The internet is now providing accountants with information so viable and valuable that it can be instantly used in research and implementation. There are so many options given to the accountants that it becomes even more difficult for them to choose.

As time passes they turn to the internet to even connect to one another and share what they learn. They even have brain storming sessions which follow suit. The trend will catch up well with many and resources will be available in plenty.

Macintosh is one such operating system where we can use accounting software. Macintosh Champion Accounting software is available from Macintosh. This menu-driven software, which was earlier used by IBM PCs, allows selection of menu, and creation of reports. There are many modules which are available. For instance, General ledger, accounts receivable and payable, inventory and job estimation and costing.

Mac Plus, SE or Macintosh II with a hard disk and at least 1 MB of RAM are the basic requirements to install the software.
