Review: Free Email Marketing Videos

Have you ever been faced with the task of having to write an email promotion to your list, and then realized that you didn't know what to say or how to say it? Or, how about a blog post that just doesn't express any power of thought?

Editor's Review: Michael Rasmussen's "Email Promos Exposed" Free Video Series: "How to Write Killer Email Promos That Get Results!"

I rarely write reviews of free products or software because much of the free stuff is poor in content that is truly helpful. This is an exception. Michael Rasmussen's new video course "Email Promos Exposed" walks you through the actual process of writing in a targeted and clear way, step-by-step. Although the videos are designed for writing email promotions, the video series can teach you a lot about writing in general. There are more than 8 videos. 8 of them are free. The others are in a complete package which he sells but the freebies are well worth watching even if you don't buy the package.

Here is my review.

Overall Quality.....

I am a retired broadcast journalist so I know an amateur video production when I see one. The first thing you will notice when you play the first video is the stunning production quality. He used Camtasia Studio for the production, the industry standard for creating high-quality screen capture video products. The audio is near studio quality, and the graphics are very professional. It's like a power-point presentation, crisp and clear. Mr. Rasmussen obviously knows what he's doing.

I also liked how he divided the videos up by section, and then again by sub-section. For example, one video is all about writing the Subject line, and then there are different parts of that video that each cover a certain area of crafting a powerful Subject line. This can be used for writing blog post titles that can make net surfers click the link to your blog post.

Now let's move onto...THE ACTUAL VIDEOS

Here's a brief summary of each video. Obviously it's impossible to list every single thing here, but I want you to get a feel for what each one covered, and how well it covered it.

(The link to the videos is on my blog - see Author Box below)

VIDEO 1 - INTRODUCTION

This video served as an introduction to the whole course. You get to see a picture of Michael in his every day life, and he establishes his credibility right up front by talking about some of his massive successes online. He even provides proof of credibility by displaying two checks in the amount of $50,000 and $25,000.

Some folks need to see that kind of proof. For me, I only look at the information provided. It doesn't matter to me how much someone has earned. It only matters that I learn the technique, use it, and let the money follow. Honestly, I am not impressed by how much money someone else makes. It's not my money, is it?

VIDEO 2 - BEFORE YOU WRITE THE PROMO

This video talks about some things that other marketers either don't know or want to keep secret. You'll learn things like:

* The mindset you need in order to write a powerful promo

* The different tools you need before you get started

* How to keep your emails laser-focused

* How to create an outline that practically writes the email for you.

This was an excellent video, and did a good job of kicking things off.

VIDEO 3 - THE SUBJECT LINE

I liked this video, because it talked about one of the biggest weaknesses when it comes to writing email promos...the Subject line.

The Subject line is a confusing topic, because nobody is 100% sure what the best tactics are. This video got me to thinking, this stuff could be applied to writing for blogs too.

VIDEO 4 - THE OPENING (this definitely applies to blog post titles, too)

This is where a lot of people miss it when writing their emails. Michael talks about how important it is to create an opening that is conversational, and then reveals techniques and examples on how to do that.

VIDEO 5 - THE BODY COPY (this applies to blogs)

This is one of the "meatiest" portions of the course, because it reveals techniques that are not widely discussed on the forums, blogs, and in most eBooks. He talks about the importance of keeping your body copy tight and relevant, and then reveals how you can do that.

(In a hurry? Go to my blog - see Author Box below)

VIDEO 6 - THE CALL TO ACTION (this could apply to blogs)

This is where a lot of people wimp out in their email promos. They start out strong, but when it comes time to ask the reader to click the link and take action, they don't know what to say. For blog writing, this would be the closing thought of your post and how to make it with "punch". Michael talks about some of his favorite techniques for making that happen.

VIDEO 7 - CREATING AN EFFECTIVE P.S. (maybe for blogs, maybe not.)

Some people say that the P.S. is one of the most important parts of the email, because it is often the one thing that gets people to click the link at the end. In this video, Michael talks about:

* Why you should including a P.S. at the end of your email.

* The 4 different kinds of P.S.'s you can use (this section was a real eye-opener for me).

VIDEO 8 - COMMON MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE

I loved this video, because it showed me some mistakes that I was making that I wasn't even aware of.

Unless you're a seasoned pro, you're probably guilty of some of the things that Michael talks about in this video as well, and that's why it's so valuable. You can shave years off your learning curve, because now you can avoid some of the costly mistakes that you are bound to make in the learning process. I've been there and done that!

There are more videos in the full package that cover:

- How to create follow up email promotions

- How to write back end email promotions

- Creating affiliate email promotions (the real money maker!)

I've already watched the free videos twice, and plan on watching them again during my writing and my emailing campaigns to make sure that I have the principals, techniques and tactics burned into my mind. I am a newbie at emailing so I will likely buy the package once I am proficient at applying the free techniques. But, if email marketing is already an important part of your business, then you owe it to yourself to check out Michael's new videos, "Email Promos Exposed."

Yours for success. Jim DeSantis

Motion Sensor Home Security Cameras
Many security cameras do not record well in the dark. This implies that a slinky presence can get away with any deed as long as the dark provides a shield. This is where a security camera with motion sensor comes in. The motion sensor triggers an automatic response as soon as it picks up a movement in its vicinity. Some of these cameras come equipped with floodlights that power up as soon as a motion is registered, flooding the area with light and catching the culprit in the act. This is further enhanced by the fact that a security camera with motion sensor often offers a connection to a TV or computer monitor. As soon as the sensor is triggered, images of the perimeter can be captured immediately.
